Looks like the Daily World folks have yanked the plug on northcoastnews.com. All that is on the site is the NCN logo, followed by this:
“Thank you for visiting the North Coast News Blog. The site is temporarily unavailable until a new editor has been named. Please check back at a later time. Thank you for your continuing support.”

About Tom Scanlon
Tom Scanlon started his journalism career as a sports stringer with the Pittsburgh Press (RIP) and Post-Gazette, then moved on to the Seattle Times, Mesa Tribune etc. He is the author of plays including "The Superhumans" and novels including "Ocean Shores Tourist Killer," "Atlantis City," and, now, "The Immaculate Jagoffs of Pittsburgh."
What support?
They actualy yanked the plug back on 10 Jan 2012 after 74 comments were posted. The final postings from some jerk called RickyBobby(probably related to Honey BooBoo) contributed the most visceral comment rant I had ever read. Now it seems a few of these cranks have spilled over into this blog as well and we’ll see how that goes.
Now a good source of prior history is gone. I hope they put it all back when they have an editor selected. Maybe they will go digital for the paper now. They do need an e-edition.
At least they’re polite. The funny thing is they still have as editor TOM SCANLON in big bold black letters.
That is funny, put out an even more crappy paper and name him, HA!
Green Bean; so true. Fortunately only a small group find that stuff necessary. I guess that when they realize they are non-competitive in a discussion involving knowledge, reasoned opinion or historical fact the frustration just overwhelms them and their only remaining skill is name calling or childish challenges. Probably the same group that used inappropriate hand gestures and body function sounds as coup-de gras tactics in debate class. I suppose that it is fortunate that they lost their vid-cam in pawn or they would probably have cousin bubba attempt to film and record their best work to be used as attachments to their future rants. It would be nice if this blog stayed focused on “what’s what” and avoided mis-guided attempts at “who’s who”. Probably too much to ask. I am thankful that this blog, at least so far, has allowed respectful dialogue between contributors. That can lead to much more valuable interchange of knowledge and ideas. They key, of course, is the ability to respectfully dis-agree , if that is the fact.
Amen to that Anonymous! But I still think I should use Window lickin’, no brain Lorraine as my new signature LOL
LorraineT: Or maybe not, it contains several words with over four letters.
